Heidegger's Sein und Zeit #2

Die genannte Frage (die Frage nach dem Sein) ist heute in Vergessenheit gekommen, obzwar unsere Zeit sich als Fortschritt rechnet, die "Metaphysik" wieder zu bejahen. Gleichwohl hält man sich der Anstrengungen einer neu zu entfachenden gigantomacia peri ths ousiaV für enthoben.

Translation: The question at stake (the question of being) has disappeared from memory today, even though our time reckons itself progressive in once again affirming a place for "metaphysics". In the same way, one considers efforts to reignite the gigantomachia peri tes ousias as a bygone necessity.

These are the first two sentences of SZ after its motto from Plato's Sophist. It is all important to note how Heidegger equates "the question of being" with the gigantomachia. He sees both as central to the metaphysics of Plato and Aristotle and both as "gleichwohl" lost in oblivion.
